On our way out of Joshua Tree National Park a couple of weekends ago, we decide to make the haul to Carlsbad California as well! I was elated about this.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, the hotel was so nice along with it being in a prime location close for all of the activities we wanted to do. We got there late Saturday afternoon, so we contemplated dinner and a movie when the idea came to me of dinner DURING a movie, since I don’t go to dine in theaters often. I looked up the full-service theaters in the area, luckily there was one super close to the hotel and it was really nice. We went and saw the new Amy Schumer movie, I Feel Pretty and it was absolutely hilarious. The food was awesome too and we had great service. Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do when I am not traveling, so this was a real treat of a weekend for me.

We woke up early the next day and ventured into the main area of Carlsbad. This was such a cute area! It is a tiny little beach town and I am in love with the downtown area. We got brunch at this cute little place close enough to smell the salt water from the coast and of course that made me yearn for some much-needed beach time. There were tons of street parking so we made our way down to the beach just so I could listen to the waves for a little. The sand and water were breathtaking. Everything about southern California in the spring is perfection. The flowers are all in bloom, the weather is mild, the smells are so fresh, it was just a perfect weekend.

To really finish off our April we also went to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. OH MY GOD this was my dream come true. I have a crazy obsession with flowers, and there were so many. My camera roll is overflowing with pictures of flowers right now, and I am still daydreaming about my own future garden I plan on having one day. This really made me want to go to the Tulip Festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands next year… future trip?

Perfect weather, perfect weekend, perfect experience. I ten out of ten recommend everyone make a trip their next spring to get a wonderful flower-filled experience!
