Wow! I am late to the game on this one, but I have been reminiscing on this trip a lot lately, so I thought I would write a little about it. Over Christmas break this past year I went to Chicago for the first time!! Of course, I did all of the stereotypical touristy things but honestly, I just love the feeling of being in a big city. It reminded me so much of my experiences with New York City.
The Bean was obviously a must on my to do list, the classic cheesy pictures in its reflection were of course taken, and I also did the Sky Walk. This was sooo fun, but super crowded which I expected since it was so close to the holidays. I just loved having a full view of the city. We also went to the Modern Contemporary Art Museum. I love art, so I was a little bit let down by their exhibit during Christmas. I guess I just expected more, not my favorite art museum, not necessarily my style, but it was a good time killer to keep out of the cold though. Next time I think I would rather go to the Aquarium, I have heard such great things about it.
Of course, I did some shopping too, there are so many places and malls in Chicago I could not possibly do it all. I think my number one favorite thing though was all of the food I ate. We went two places that really stuck out. We got Garrets Popcorn, which if any of you know me on a personal level, popcorn is my all time favorite! I also really loved Portillo’s, a Chicago staple. The hot dog was so good and I highly recommend the chocolate cake shake!
Next time I go back, besides the aquarium, I would also want to go see a show. In New York Broadway is one of my favorite things, when I was driving out of the city I saw that the play Wicked was on and I was so mad I did not get to go! It is by far one of my favorite plays so next time I am going to do more research on that. I hope to make a trip back to Chicago this summer (ya know, when it is warm) so if y’all have any suggestion on things to do that I have not done yet, please leave me some comment! I am counting on you my chitown peeps!
