Graduation Send Off
I am finishing off my last semester of college, and it has been such a bittersweet journey. I thought it was only fitting that I end my journey in one of my favorite places in Tucson. Gate Pass! I believe I have mentioned Gates Pass before and so has Peyton in passing, so this is not really a review piece. If you would like a review let me know in the comment if that is what you are interested, but this piece is more of an overall how does graduating feel.
I am not going to lie, I am sad. Sad to leave behind the last bit of my childhood, sad to leave behind friends, sad to leave behind a place I now have grown to call my home, but I am also so excited. I am excited to take on a new place, with endless possibilities. I am excited to meet new people and try new things. People get so locked up in their routines that people forget we at any time or place can decide to test out new waters and try something completely out of the box.
At gates pass with all of my closest friends, I realized how good of a support system I have been provided with even as I take this next step. We are all standing in this beautiful place, taking pictures and laughing and I am leaving them which is scary, but I do not really feel I am going to lose them.
One friend is joke-lecturing everyone about jumping cacti out of the corner of my eye, another friend drowning in my multitude of stoles as I make quick wardrobe changes, and another clicking the button on the camera telling me to pay attention. It was a little bit chaotic, but just another priceless memory I have in such a beautiful place. Gates Pass will always be one of my favorite places because there are just so many good memories there, with all of the same people who were standing by my side today.
Find a place and people this year who you can watch those always breathtaking sunsets with, people to run in and out of street as cars wiz by just to get a good picture, a place that on a Friday night you say let’s get takeout and just go sit there. Gates Pass has been that for me for three years, so thanks, you beautiful forest of cacti.
