Flight Entertainment

Before heading off to the airport, I always make sure I have entertainment for long flights prepped and ready to go. Having a few hours of music accessible for the flight is a great way to kill time. I have been on some ten hour straight flights that I would have died of boredom on if I did not have good jams keeping my spirits lifted. Downloading Spotify playlists has been a great convenience, just make sure you do it at home because you need wifi to download the songs, and sometimes the airport wifi is too slow to get the job done. Downloading podcasts is also a great way to kill time on planes when you get tired of listening to music. Bringing a book and journal to write in is also one of my favorite plane past times. On really long flights, I’ll mix up listening to music, podcasts, reading, writing, and watching movies to keep 10+ hour long flights fun! Doing one of each for an hour or so keeps the time moving, and a nap or two thrown in makes flying a fun chill day! I always bring a little travel pillow and blanket to stay cozy in the little square foot of space you have for the venture. Getting up and doing some yoga and squats in the bathroom also helps make you feel a little more alive again after hours in the air!

Self Care

Taking care of your mental and physical health before a long day of travel helps immensely. The day before and morning of a long flight, I always make sure I get a good workout in. This helps me sleep easier on long flights because I am not as antsy and have gotten my energy out the day before or morning of. Working out is also a great stress reliever before travel days. Take that anxiety out on a good run instead of letting it sit in your head worrying if you have taken care of everything you were supposed to! I have also found that its super important to hydrate the morning of a long travel day. Right when I wake up I’ll drink a glass of water, and I will drink more than I normally would each hour before I leave. Not being able to bring water through security and not wanting to spend $5 on a tiny bottle of airport water always leaves me to the mercy of the tiny sips of water you can only then get on the plane. And most of the times I fall asleep and miss when the attendant passes water out. Being so high up in altitude is dehydrating, so avoid the dehydration, fatigue and headaches by drink drink drinking up before your flight! :)

I hope these travel tips help as you plan and embark on your adventures this year! Cheers to new trips in 2019 on our beautiful planet :)
