What to Expect: Grand Turk Edition
The beauty and history of Grand Turk is something straight out of a fairy tale. A small part of the Turks and Caicos chain, but not to be overlooked. The water was crystal clear and all different colors of blue, with the softest and whitest sand I have yet to see… minus White Haven Beach in my beloved Australia. I discovered fully intact shells the size of my head and even many shipwrecks all over the island which are perfect for all of your snorkeling endeavors.
This place is also known for its incredible diving experience and horseback riding through the water. I think my favorite part of the quaint little place though would be the wild donkeys that roam freely. I am a sucker for animals and they were so friendly and not afraid at all. You can go right up to them and love on them.
The islanders are all so happy and friendly, and one man even told us that crime on the island is almost non-existent. They exhibit the true spirit of peaceful island living.
You can rent golf carts, ATV’s or a guide to tour the whole island and it does not take long at all. We got a golf cart and seamlessly got to see everything we wanted to within the short time span that we were docked there. I did not feel rushed at all which was really appreciated after my rushed experience in the Dominican Republic.
That being said… I did not have nearly enough time there. I would have loved more kick back time on the beach and more snorkeling time but I did accomplish everything I planned to do, just a quick version of it. The water was a great temperature and I could have laid in the sun all day there.
I want to go back soon and honestly I loved what I saw so much I now find myself daydreaming of my very own winter home there, but I will have to keep dreaming on that one ha! A must do destination and cannot wait to one day explore more of this island chain.
